NaNoWriMo 2011 Has Begun!
Would you believe that some crazy novel writers began their efforts in 'literary abandon' last night at midnight? Some even met up to do it. My tactic was a bit different and I hit the hay early to try and get rid of a persistent headache and to be up bright and early to write.
I don't know about bright but I was up earlier than usual and I did manage to get 1,091 words done (my goal today is 2,000) by 7:10 am when I had to get up and get the family sorted out for school and work.
Once again I am using the Secret Weapon for focusing on my writing: Write or Die (the online version)
Focusing with timed writing I can generally whip 500 words out in 15 minutes which really helps when I need to just get the words down for the day and move on!
Good Luck and happy writing fellow Wrimos!

Sprouts!
The seeds we planted this past week have sprouted. At least some of them are up, the lettuce and the thyme are up and the bachelor's buttons are coming along really well. Sage and parsley are still hiding (and hopefully germinating), and my preschooler's lima beans might possibly be ready to send up a shoot. I think I can just barely see one trying to break the surface.
My phone didn't want to take a good picture but I'll inflict these on you anyway because it's proof of a success! At least thus far.
Yes, you’re in the right place!
Near Miscellany looks a little different. I kept fighting with my old theme until I realized that I had lived with it long enough. Glitch was kind enough to update it to a different one that we both like and I hope you enjoy the new look, too. I think it gets us to the good stuff in the posts a lot faster!
Speaking of good stuff, there's more to come! I'm planning to get some cuttings at my mom's today (her house is like the promised land of plants), I'm plotting to make my own grow light for over the nomadic shelf, and there's a very fun redneck idea coming up that I think everyone will enjoy reading about even if they're not into gardening!
Stay tuned!
